Poroshenko said during his annual address to the parliament on Thursday he was unsatisfied with the government's work in regard to developing a visa-free regime with the EU and sacked the head of the State Migration Service, Serhiy Radyutniy, because he had been dissatisfied with his work.

"Today, the interior minister told me that the head of the migration service wrote his resignation and quit. And that's how it will be with everyone who disrupts the presidential task in regard to fulfilling the technical agreements on a visa-free regime."

The introduction of a visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens was announced a priority of the coup-imposed authorities in Kiev, after then-President Viktor Yanukovych was overthrown in February 2014.

The European Commission said on May 8 in a report that Kiev should concentrate first on fighting corruption, organized crime, trafficking in human beings and discrimination in the country.

The final declaration of the EU Eastern Partnership summit adopted last month contains no mention of the possibility of a visa-free regime for Ukraine in 2016.
